About the speaker:
Amanda Bunce is a research scientist at the University of Connecticut, working towards a doctoral degree in natural resources with a focus on forest ecology and forest management. She earned a Master's degree at UConn working on tree biomechanics - how trees sway in the wind - as part of a large project to help protect roadside trees and power infrastructure from the increase in storms associated with climate change. Her work has branched out to include many methods of growing trees and managing forest ecosystems to increase their capacity to adapt to climate change. She also studies people to better integrate these innovative methods into society. Amanda came from an outdoor education background, is now a licenced forester, and remains in outreach working with forestry extension at UConn to present science and new ideas to other foresters
